GuideGxP asks that timezone, daylight-saving time, the sampling instant and the receive instant are written down. Xanthium names files from the host localtime. The 2018 RC-5 clock followed the PC. Copy the export string as printed, and name the computer timezone. Do not silently rewrite it as BST or GMT.
Why does the timestamp string matter?
A fridge file that says 2026-03-29 01:30:00 without a timezone cannot be compared with a later BST morning. GuideGxP’s 2026 note lists timezone, daylight-saving time, the moment of sampling and the moment of receipt as separate facts. Missing any of them makes a later audit argument weaker.
That article cites EU GDP 2013/C 343/01. Temp Logger UK does not restate those EU clauses as a UK legal duty. For medicines storage, this site points to the MHRA Inspectorate mapping introduction and the NHS SPS sensor page. For food diaries, it points to SFBB or CookSafe.
Where do published loggers take the clock from?
Xanthium builds the CSV filename from the host localtime. Verstraten’s RC-5 clock was synchronised from the PC. In both cases the file inherits whatever the computer believed. If that computer was set to Europe/London, the string still has to be copied as printed; this publication has not corrected it.
An original page that reports a timezone would export once with the PC on Europe/London, keep the raw timestamp column, and state that timezone beside the file. If the logger itself has a timezone setting, that setting is a second fact, recorded separately.
What does this page refuse to correct?
These notes do not shift a timestamp across the March or October UK clock change. They do not claim that a shop USB pen stores UTC. They do not treat a software timezone dropdown as evidence that the file was already corrected.
Which sources does this note use, and what do they not prove?
Sources checked on 23 September 2026. Numbered references point to the original publishers. Their sample measurements are not Temp Logger UK measurements. Manufacturer, training and official material is identified separately. A shop catalogue sentence can name a model, but it does not establish the columns, the clock or a pass. This publication has not tested or certified any instrument in this note.
