If samples are missing, GuideGxP says the gap must remain a gap. The 2018 RC-5 review stopped when memory was full and did not wrap. A graph that connects the last point before a gap to the first point after it is an illustration, not evidence that the cabinet stayed stable.
Why must a missing hour stay a gap?
GuideGxP’s integrity note is written against the habit of joining two points across a missing hour and calling the cabinet stable. The missing hour is a fact about the file. Stability during that hour is a different claim and needs a different instrument or a different record.
NHS SPS’s excursion page asks how long a medicines store was outside its limit. That question cannot be answered from a line that was drawn in after the download.
What did a full memory do in one published test?
Verstraten’s RC-5 stopped when the 32 000 points were used. It did not overwrite the oldest sample. That is useful as a warning: a weekly job at a 10-second interval will end mid-week on that arithmetic. It is still his 2018 observation. A current pen that wraps, stops, or alarms has to be shown from its own export.
What would an original gap page keep?
A deliberate stop or a removed battery, the raw export, and a sentence that the graphing tool did or did not fill the hole. If memory is filled on purpose, the file has to show whether the logger stopped or wrapped. This publication has not produced that pair of files.
Which sources does this note use, and what do they not prove?
Sources checked on 23 September 2026. Numbered references point to the original publishers. Their sample measurements are not Temp Logger UK measurements. Manufacturer, training and official material is identified separately. A shop catalogue sentence can name a model, but it does not establish the columns, the clock or a pass. This publication has not tested or certified any instrument in this note.
